| The Seasons of
Life
You are familiar with Ecclesiastes 3.
There is a time and season for everything. It makes sense. It even made a great song
in the 1960's called Turn, Turn, Turn (by the Byrds). When we're in up times,
when crops are flourishing and everything is going dandy, we love Ecclesiastes 3.
But how about when times are down, when weeds overtake our crops and everything is going
awful?
My family has been in a season of illness and
death. You all know that Mom died in December 2006. That ushered in what has been a
seemingly endless season of sadness. Since Mama's death, her brother died three weeks
later, Dad's sister had a stroke and died, my cousin (age 61) had a debilitating stroke,
another cousin dropped dead at work (age 58), my niece miscarried a baby with water on the
spine, a 44 year old relative died of cancer, and my brother-in-law had a stroke because
of a blood clot on the brain. PLUS, two of my uncles will die within the next couple of
months and my dad is hanging on by a thread.
This isn't meant to depress you (although it's certainly
depressing ME). It's to show you that we go through seasons of bad times as well as good
times. Christians are no more exempt than non-believers. |
Guiding Scripture...
Be transformed by the
renewing of your mind.
Romans 12:2
February's
Scripture
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every
activity under Heaven.
(Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV)
Write this scripture down
and post it in a frequented area so it will become a part of your mind, your heart, and
your soul. |
Both good and bad seasons
will come your way.
But, beloved, God is with you in both!
Lean on Him. Trust Him. And don't give up....ever!
PRAYER
God, thank You for
good times. And although sometimes it's very hard to say and harder to believe, thank You
for the hard times, too. Give me strength, comfort and courage to keep on keeping on. I
will continue to journey with You on smooth roads and through the bumpy roads, too. Thanks
for being my constant companion!
AMEN! |
