| Letting God Take
the Lead
In a
world where being a Christian has become politically incorrect, it's ironic that we
celebrate the life of a Christian missionary every March 17 -- Patrick of Ireland.
Patrick was
actually born (373) in Scotland, not Ireland, the son of a deacon and the grandson of a
priest. When only 16, Patrick's home was burned, and he was taken by pirates as a slave to
Ireland. Sounds like a bad thing, but Patrick gave his life to Jesus in Ireland. which is
certainly a GOOD thing. Patrick eventually escaped and returned to a joyous homecoming
with his family -- but not for long. Similar to Paul's vision in Acts 16, Patrick had a
dream where an Irish man pleaded with him to return to Ireland to evangelize that country.
In a turn of events that only God could orchestrate, Patrick (age 30) left his homeland
and returned to the land of his captors. Despite opposition (even attempts to kill him) by
the Druids, Patrick's message about Jesus captivated Ireland. Multitudes came to hear him
preach, resulting in the planting of 200 churches and the baptizing of over 100,000
converts.
Sadly,
today's worldly celebration of St. Patrick's day often becomes a time of drunkenness and
silliness, and the praise of Ireland far overshadows Patrick's work for God's Kingdom.
Most of us
will not become a Patrick. We won't preach to great numbers of people. We won't baptize
thousands. We may not even personally lead one person to the saving knowledge of Jesus.
But we CAN make an impact for the Kingdom -- if we let God work through us to achieve His
goals.
I want you
to focus on Philippians 1:6. This scripture is an important starting step because it
establishes who really is leading whom. |
Guiding Scripture...
Be transformed by the
renewing of your mind.
Romans 12:2
Topic
Scripture
I am sure that God, who began the good work within you,
will continue His work until it is finished on that day when Jesus comes back again.
Philippians 1:6
Write this scripture down
and post it in a frequented area so it will become a part of your mind, your heart, and
your soul.

I am sure that God, who began the good work within you,
will continue His work until it is finished on that day when Jesus comes back again.
Philippians 1:6
God began a
good work in you when you became His daughter,
and He will continue His work in you.
(Note
that this is all about God.
He will continue His work in you that He started.)
On our own
merits and abilities we are not saved,
we are not equipped,
and we are not able to do God's work.
So, don't try to do God's work for Him.
Allow HIM to work in and through you.
Beloved,
this is very freeing.
God is the leader.
You are the follower.
Let this
scripture change your direction.
Relinquish your ways for God's ways.
Identify specific ways you are trying to do things for God.
Identify specific ways you may be blocking God's plans for you.
Realize, and
relax, knowing that it is God who started His work in you -- and it is God who will
continue to work in you, ever day, one day at at time, as you are transformed into the
woman He wants you to be! |
|
Wow! What a journey to
renewal!
PRAYER
What a freeing scripture this
is! I don't have to do, do, do to become the woman You want me to be. All I have to do is
surrender my wishes and ways to allow You to lead me where You want me to go, to become
the person You want me to become, to serve as You want me to serve. Give me a nudge when I
get in Your way.
I
played follow-the-leader as a little girl, but now I'm living follow-my-Leader as an
adult! Thanks, God, for leading Me, and thanks for giving me Jesus as my Master Guide.
AMEN! |
SCRIPTURE CHALLENGE
I am sure that God, who began the good work within you,
will continue His work until it is finished on that day when Jesus comes back again.
Philippians 1:6
1. Memorize this scripture.
2. Personalize it. God
has begun a good work in me, and He (not I) will continue His (not my) work until it is
finished on that glorious day when Jesus comes back again!
3. Pinpoint areas where you can work with God to let Him accomplish His good work in you.
4. Relinquish areas where you are trying to do it all yourself. |
