Welcome Fellow Journeyer!
I hope
you're excited about beginning the Journey to Renewal. It is a journey that will truly be
life-changing!
As you
journey, we'll cover all kinds of topics -- everything from transforming your prayer life
to cleaning up your kitchen -- because everything we do is a representation of our life in
Christ. (Had you ever thought of it like that?)
I want to
stress one thing. Renewal is a DAILY process. Do not try to overhaul your entire
life overnight because it's not possible! You'll become frustrated, angry, and quit
before you even get two steps down the road.
In the
Lord's prayer, Jesus asked God for DAILY BREAD. He didn't ask for an entire loaf.
When God fed the meandering Hebrew children in the wilderness, He gave them enough manna
for ONE day only.
DAILY
renewal is what we're seeking!
A DAILY
transformation by the renewing of your mind!! |
Guiding Scripture...
Each month you'll be given a
scripture. This first scripture is the basis for our journey because it is the key to
renewal. Everything starts in your mind. As you adopt the mind of Christ, your attitudes,
actions and even appearance will become renewed.
Learning scripture is
a privilege. If you write this scripture down and post it in a frequented area, it will
become a part of your mind. Soon you will have it memorized without even trying!
Be transformed by
the renewing of your mind.

On this first leg of your journey, I want you to take stock of what you really want out of
your journey.
Do you want to lose weight?
Do you need an attitude adjustment?
Do you want to become more of a Bible student?
Do you want to get over a really big hurt?
Do you want to clean out your sock drawer? (ha)
(If you haven't already taken it, the Renewal Survey
is a good place to get a handle on what's really in need of renewal in your life. See
below.)
This month, choose one thing you want to have renewed.
Identify it. Get a journal, and write it down. If you don't
feel comfortable leaving a pad of your heartfelt thoughts laying around, fill out the
Renewal Survey and send it to me. It's confidential because WebForms doesn't forward
your e-mail. I won't know who you are but there's something about actually putting words
on paper that make them more real.
Next, if you have
someone with whom you can be accountable, invite her to join you on your journey.
Most importantly, I
want you to pray about your journey. Open your heart totally to God. He already knows what
needs renewing in your life, but He'd love you to personally share it with Him.
